NEW FPGA FIRMWARE | DENAFRIPS PONTUS DAC

Dear friends,

Greetings!

I would like to apologize to customers who own the Terminator II and Terminator Plus for the delay in the release of the FPGA Firmware Update. Instead of releasing it as planned, we have decided to postpone it until early June.

The reason for this is that we are collaborating with DENAFRIPS to develop a firmware that offers the best of both worlds: bug fixes, new features, and the same high-quality sound that DENAFRIPS is famous for. I appreciate your patience and understanding during this time

We plan to roll out the firmware update for Terminator II/Plus DACs at a later date, tentatively:

  • Terminator II / Plus (1st June 2023)

NEW! FPGA Firmware for DENAFRIPS Pontus, Pontus II, Pontus II 12th

We have been gathering feedback of the FPGA Firmware Update Project, as well as actively monitor the audiophile forums where many of our enthusiast customers, and DENAFRIPS owners share their thoughts and opinions.

We are aware that several customers who updated the latest 12th FPGA Firmware commented that the treble energy is more prominent, less body and weight in the mid range and lower octave. Hence, there is a perceived loss in balance/neutrality. Perhaps, it has to do with equipment synergy, and so on.

We get that. You may miss the 'old sound', where it's more forgiving, relax, and musical.

Our goal is to have the best of both worlds - To have a new firmware with bugs fixed, as well as to preserve the sound quality that DENAFRIPS is known for - ability to reproduce music very much 'analog-like', and improve it further. We are working with DENAFRIPS on this.

What does it mean to you?

In other words, whenever a new firmware is available, you may download and update the DAC! The firmware update capability opens an endless possibilities to constantly improve the sound quality, features of the DAC.

Good news? I bet :)

Like a better news?

The latest firmware for the DENAFRIPS Pontus II DAC is now available and ready to use.

Our team is prepared to offer a new firmware release that prioritizes the Pontus DAC, allowing users to enjoy the best of both worlds firmware with bug fixed, improved features, and retaining the analog-like sound quality DENAFIRPS is known for. We will be applying the same technique for the rest of the DACs and releasing them in the near future.

DENAFRIPS team have thoroughly tested the firmware on various generations of DENAFRIPS Pontus DACs, including the 2017-2019 model, Pontus II (2020-2021), and Pontus II 12th.

The new firmware (v1.4) has successfully passed the rigorous measurement tests conducted by Audio Precision Analyzer, and most importantly, it has received the approval of the majority votes of DENAFRIPS sound tuning team. Thus, it is now ready for deployment.

Please use the link and password that were previously provided to download the latest FUT (v1.4).
